A Lovely Saturday in the London Suburbs

I woke up to a bright Spring morning in London. After 2 weeks of incessant rain, this was a welcome break.

As the sun-rays filtered in through my living room windows, I felt light and cheerful. After piling in a batch of laundry, I filled the stove-top coffee maker, with my strong Java roast. Whilst the coffee brewed, I warmed up my pain au chocolat. This is my guilty pleasure once a week, since I started intermittent fasting 5 years ago and skip breakfast for the rest of the week.

Today, I am attending my friend, Chandra’s Hindustani Classical Music baithak, at her house in Sutton. Chandra is a professional Hindustani Classical Music artiste and occasionally invites her peers, students and friends for such baithak (gathering). Given the Bengali’s penchant for food, I was expecting a lovely lunch too.

Whilst the aroma of the coffee filled the house and I tucked into my croissant, I mulled over what I should be wearing. It had to be something light and cheerful, to suit my mood and I settled for an old Gudrun Sjödén cotton co-ord, that felt just right.

I thought of styling that with Indian silver jewellery and Kolapuri juttis – a perfect match that echoed my sense of fusion fashion.

I had to pick up a bunch of tulips of course, because, I knew Chandra loves flowers and after dabbing on some sandalwood attar, I jumped into my car, humming a Spring tune.

It was a beautiful day!
